The IALD International Lighting Design Awards, the longest-running international lighting design awards program, is the highest honor in the profession that recognizes work that reaches new heights and represents excellence in aesthetic and technical achievement. Since its establishment in 1983, the awards program has supported the mission and vision of the IALD: raising the profile of the lighting design profession and demonstrating the visible success of that community.

The 2024 Call for Entries Guide

The Call for Entries guide document provides all the necessary information on the submission process including project eligibility, the requirements for submitted images and/or video, required materials release forms for that media, and best practices for submitting an entry.

Project Eligibility

These awards are given for exemplary architectural lighting design. Awards will be granted only to the lighting designers, design team, or teams that were contracted and signed the design of the architectural lighting for the project submitted. (The individual entering the project does not have to be the part of the credited design team, but must be an approved representative of the contracted and credited design team or teams.)

The project must be a permanent architectural lighting design solution for which construction was completed on or after 1 January 2022. To be considered permanent, projects must be intended to be in place for at least two (2) years as of the date they are submitted. The IALD encourages the submission of all sizes of lighting design projects.

A project that has been previously submitted for an award with IALD may be resubmitted, as long as it (1) did not previously win an award, and (2) adheres to the completion date and permanence requirements described above.
